FAQs
What is a gallery opening?
The first day an art gallery’s exhibition opens to the public. Galleries often host receptions to celebrate the occasion. During peak season, openings may happen any day of the week, but Thursdays are most common.
Can I just walk in?
Most openings are free and don’t require RSVP. We try our best to notate when otherwise. Please contact the gallery directly with any questions and always adhere to what they communicate at the door.
Is there a dress code or etiquette?
No dress code. Don’t touch the art. Be respectful to the space and staff. Remember, you are not at a club or bar. Free drinks are never guaranteed—they’re a courtesy, not an entitlement.
Can I visit a gallery during their regular business hours?
Yes! Just check the galleries’ websites before visiting. Hours are usually Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm. Some galleries are appointment-only.
